The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wassa Amenfi East, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, has encouraged Muslim youth to take full advantage of the government’s National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) to acquire employable skills for a better future.
Speaking at the Maiden Annual District Islamic Convention and Fundraising held at Wassa Akropong, Hon. Ebbah underscored the programme’s potential to reduce youth unemployment while promoting economic empowerment among young people in the municipality and across the country.
He explained that the initiative, introduced under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama is designed to equip beneficiaries with hands-on experience and market-relevant skills to help them build sustainable livelihoods.
“By participating in the National Apprenticeship Programme, young people can gain valuable skills and experience that enhance their employability and open doors to entrepreneurial opportunities,” Hon. Ebbah stated.
The MCE revealed that trainees under the programme will receive a monthly stipend of GH¢500, while master craftsmen who train them will also be paid GH¢200 per apprentice as part of the government’s support package.
As part of his contribution to the event, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah donated GH¢10,000 to support the Muslim community’s ongoing efforts to establish an Islamic Nursing College in Wassa Akropong.

He commended the Muslim leadership and congregants for their unity, community service, and contributions toward local development, emphasizing that their dedication continues to inspire progress in the Amenfi East Municipality.
The MCE further assured the gathering that the Assembly remains committed to supporting educational and social development initiatives, including plans to construct a Teacher Training College in the district.
Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah also announced that newly recruited Arabic instructors will soon be posted to Islamic schools within Amenfi East to strengthen the teaching and learning of Arabic education.
According to him, this move will help improve the standard of Islamic education in the area. He added that the proposed Islamic Nursing Training College will benefit from the expertise of these teachers, ensuring that students receive quality instruction.
“With well-trained and well-resourced teachers, the new Islamic Nursing College will be well-positioned to provide high-quality education and produce competent professionals to serve our communities.”
The Islamic Convention brought together Muslim scholars, traditional leaders, youth, and community members to discuss educational advancement, peacebuilding, and social development within the municipality.
