I.K. Gyasi (Ibrahim Kwaku Gyasi), a respected Ghanaian educationist and former headmaster of T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (AMASS) in Kumasi, has passed away at the age of 87.
A prolific newspaper columnist, he authored the “Bluntly Speaking” column in The Chronicle for over 20 years, retiring in August 2016 at the age of 80 after five decades in the media industry. His columns offered sharp insights on education and national issues.
As a former headmaster of his alma mater, T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, he served from 1990 to 1998 and was celebrated for being the first former student to rise to the position. He dedicated much of his life to the school, teaching English and mentoring generations of students.
I.K. Gyasi was also an English language tutor and author of educational books. His contributions to journalism were recognised in 2023 when he was honoured as an honorary member of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
