The Christian Health Association of Ghana in collaboration with Valley View Adventist Hospital has today, 8th June, 2023, organized a free health screening within Techiman.

The program which started with a float on the principal streets of the Techiman South Municipality climaxed at the Techiman Sunyani Station where residents were given access to free health screening.

Speaking in an interview with elvisanokyenews.com, the Executive Officer for the Valley View Adventist Hospital, Mr. Emmanuel Oduro, says although the free health screening covers all health related issues, their main focus is to advocate against HIV and TB stigma among the citizenry.

He said “Not long ago, representatives from the government gave us training on HIV and TB stigmas and how best to eradicate such stigma.”

“All we have to know about stigma is that, most atimes, those infected with HIV and tuberculosis suffer discrimination within the society which shouldn’t be so”.

“So our being here today, aside the free health screening is to educate the populace on how HIV and tuberculosis spreads and also educate them on how stop HIV and tuberculosis stigma since it has negative emotional and psychological effects on the victim”

Adwoa Boatengmaa, a Health Educator Encouraged patients suffering from HIV and tuberculosis to ” come to our hospital for treatment, do not feel shy to seek for medical attention, even if you want us to visit your home and administer treatment for you, we will gladly do so”.

She ensured all and sundry that, staff at Valley View Adventist Hospital are well trained and equipped with the requisite skills to provide health care for all especially those suffering from HIV and Tuberculosis

Some beneficiaries of the free health screening and education on stigma said they have learnt a lot on how to coexist with relatives and friends who are infected with either HIV or TB and pledged to stop HIV stigma.
