The Nananom and the people of Buoyem, Mesiden and Asuyie all in the Techiman North District of the Bono East region, have stated that until the roads in those communities are properly constructed, they will not fall for any promise by the government.

They explained that, some government officials as well as officials from the district assembly have assured them that a contractor will be at site very soon to fix their roads but until the said contractor comes to site and actual work starts on the road, they won’t believe any promises by the district assembly or the central government since they have heard too many promises concerning the construction of their roads.

According to them, many years ago, politicians came there to promise them of constructing their roads but nothing good came out of it and they cannot have trust again.

The District Chief Executive for Techiman North, Hon. Everson Addo Donkor, and the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Techiman North Constituency, Hon. Martin Oti Gyarko, in the course of last week presented a contractor who will be working on the road to Nananom and the people of Buoyem.

The move was welcomed by the inhabitants of those communities as Nananom in Buoyem, Mesiden and Asuyie gave out pieces of lands for the contractor to move his logistics in to kick start work.

Speaking to the Mwerehene of Buoyem. Nana Obiri Korang Antwi Boasiako I had confirmed to Nana Amakye on classic morning that the contractor was brought to them and a land have been given out to him to move his things in to start work, but he added that the people of Buoyem and these communities does not believe in this move by the DCE and his officials until the road is constructed.

“I was there last Monday when I got a call from Hon. Martin Oti Gyarko, he told me it’s finally time for our road to be constructed and said one Amin Adams, who is a contractor will soon start work and needs a place to put his logistics, so I informed my superiors and we prepared to welcome them.

“True to their words, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate came with the contractor of which the Bouyem Traditional Council gave them a place to store their logistics and the Asuyie Traditional Council have also given them a place to stay until they complete their work.

“Due to some promises and assurance from government officials concerning our roads which didn’t materialize, until we see an actual work on the roads and a good work done, who are not falling for the government.” He said.

He revealed that, the youths in those communities have declared a year of no road no vote and there are series of activities that they will be rolling out until the road is constructed.
