The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Sanitation Court has fined a trader, Madam Patience Pomaa, GH¢2,400 for refusing to participate in the National Sanitation Day exercise.
According to the court, Madam Pomaa will face a one-month jail term should she fail to settle the fine.
The was convicted on Thursday, December 4, 2025, after pleading guilty to charges of ignoring a statutory notice and failing to take part in the mandatory clean-up exercise.
The prosecutor, Nii Okine Aryee, indicated that Environmental Health Officers found that Madam Pomaa failed to participate in the mandatory clean-up exercise held on April 10, 2025 leading to a formal court summons.
According to a report, the day is set aside for the National Sanitation Day.
In delivering the judgment, Magistrate Her Worship Mrs. Rosemond Vera Aryeetey stated that it is obliged for every citizen to participate in the National Sanitation Day to promote cleanliness in the country.
