Black Stars Management Committee Member, Akwesi Agyeman believes the call for Black Stars coach, Otto Addo to be sacked is not the right time.
Many Ghanaians, especially football fans have questioned the performance of Otto Addo and called for his sack from his role as the Head Coach of the Black Stars after the Ghana National team missed out in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
But speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, Akwasi Agyeman stated that Ghana has two crucial games to qualify for the World Cup so the change is not necessary at this point in time.
“Over the last few years, we had how many coaches? We had Kwesi Appiah come and go, we had Milo, C.K Akonnor and then Otto. Otto faced one and Otto faced two and I believe speaking to the FA and the Executive Committee, their plan was that we should have a long term plan. A long term build up so they felt that we needed a coach who could do the work.” He said.
“At that time Otto had taken us to the World Cup. He came and said he had a contract with Dortmund and he went back. So if you look at the long term vision, I think we need that consistency but football is also about results. And so where we are now in three months we have two crucial games against Chad, home and away I believe, to try and qualify for the World Cup. I don’t believe that this is the time for that change.” Akwasi Agyeman stated.
He therefore urged Coach Otto Addo and his Technical team to work hard to build the team to meet the expectation of Ghanaians.
“But it is also a call for Otto and his Technical Team to really take a mirror and look in, what are the things that are not going right and what they should do.”
