Social media users have reacted to the 2023 World Economics Governance Index study which scored Ghana as the fifth (5th) best-governed country in Africa.
According to the study, Ghana beats Gambia, Tunisia, Niger, Senegal, Malawi, Lesotho, Burkina Faso, Togo, Nigeria and others as one of the best performing countries in Africa.
The statistics ranked Mauritius as the first best-governed country in Africa with 69.3 followed by Namibia which scored 69.1 and South Africa in the third position with 65.5, Botswana being the fourth position had 65.1 and Ghana made it to the 5th position with 61.1.
Reacting to this, some social media users believe the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia paid for the 5th Ranking position in the latest Index.
They argued that the current administration has done nothing to deserve that position but others also said Ghana deserves it.
“They’ve bribed them too?” One user said.
“”They’ve gone to pay for the ranking. They knew first position wouldn’t make sense to even they themselves so they picked 5. Aban tantantan seii….. Mtcheeeeww” Another one said.
One user praised the NPP government for their unpresidented performance “Kudos to Akuffo Addo and Bawumia. Ayekoo to the competent driver and the digital mate. Ghana is the pride of West Africa.”
