The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reacted to the strange advice by the Founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kwesi Ahwoi to Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang who is the running mate to the flagbearer of the NDC, former president John Dramani Mahama.
The former Agric Minister adviced Prof. Jane Naana to be prepared to become president because anything can happen.
He said John Mahama was not ready to be president at the time but nature schemed things in such a way that President Mills had to give way to John Mahama.
“John Mahama was not ready to be president at the time but nature schemed things in such a way that President Mills had to give way to John Mahama. Anything can happen, so Naana, be ever prepared as your motto says, anything can happen and you can become the President of the Republic of Ghana,” Kwesi Ahwoi stated.
Reacting to this on X, the Director of Communications of the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah said the scramble for who leads the NDC after Mahama has started, this he believes will create chaos in the NDC.
“Former Minister for Interior, Kwesi Ahwoi’s statement has let the cat out of the bag. The scramble for who leads the NDC after Mahama has started even before the December 2024 elections. There is chaos ahead. The internal fight over who is who will preoccupy the NDC in the very unlikely event that they win the election in December.” He wrote.
According to him, even if the NDC wins the 2024 elections, the party will concentrate on leadership struggles instead of governance.
“This will spell disaster for Ghana because the focus will not be on governance, but rather on who takes over from Mahama. In other words, Mahama will be a lame duck from day one because he has only 4 years and all of it will be spent on internal leadership struggles and very little on manning the country….” He added.
He therefore called on Ghanaians to vote for the vice president Dr. Mahamudu Baumia who is poisoned to transform Ghana.
“Spare Ghana this imminent chaos by voting Bawumia and NPP for steady leadership and growth. It’s possible!” He indicated.
