Techiman South: NDC accuse MP, Mayor of misappropriation of state funds, calls for immediate investigation

The Techiman South National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the Member of Parliament for Techiman South and the Mayor of the Techiman South Metropolis of misappropriation of state funds.

In a press statement by the Deputy Communication Officer of the Techiman South NDC, Baba Issah, projects undertaken by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Techiman South, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GSCSP) have been substandard and calls for the immediate investigation into the projects.

A portion of the statement reads, “The National Democratic Congress (NDC) party in the Techiman South Constituency has expressed deep concern over the alleged mismanagement of funds meant for the development of Techiman.

“According to Baba Issah, Deputy Communication Officer of the NDC, the government of Ghana secured a loan from the World Bank’s Secondary City Fund to develop Techiman into a modern city. However, the projects undertaken by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Techiman South, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, have been substandard.

“One notable example is the construction of an urban park in Techiman, which was allocated a significant portion of the funds. Unfortunately, the park falls short of modern standards and cannot host FIFA matches or any competitive games.

“The NDC party is calling for accountability and transparency in the use of these funds. We urge the Special Prosecutor and the Auditor General to immediately investigate the alleged misuse of funds by the MCE and the MP.”

The Techiman South NDC urged all well meaning electorates in Techiman South and Ghana at large to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama and all NDC Parliamentary Candidates come December 7th.

This they say will ensure proper development in Techiman and Ghana as a whole

“We also call on Ghanaians and the people of Techiman to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections to ensure that proper development is brought to Ghana and Techiman.”

He added that the NDC party is committed to ensuring that the resources of this country are used for the benefit of all Ghanaians, not just a select few. We will continue to demand accountability and transparency from our leaders.
