Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, The Member of Parliament for Techiman, on last Wednesday, January 17, 2024 presented fifty (50) double bunk beds to Kwarteng Ankomah SHS in Techiman Tanoso to improve students’ comfort and well-being.
In a short address, the Techiman Municipal Education Director who doubles as the Headmaster of the School, Mr. John Amissah thanked Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, his timely intervention when the request was made to him.
Mr. Amissah revealed that, Hon. Martin has been a great contributor to the success and well being of the students at Kwarteng Ankomah Senior High School as the double bunk beds are not the only donations the legislature has made to improve the standard of the school.
According to the Techiman South Director of Education, “Hon. Martin has really contributed to the overall development of schools in Techiman and Kwarteng Ankomah Senior High School is one of the schools in the municipality that have benefited from the benevolence of Hon. Martin as the school as earlier got a 6-unit Classroom block, 150 mono desks and maker boards, 15 bags of sugar to feed the students and recently drilled a borehole for the school which will soon be mechanized.”
The Assistant Headmaster of the School, Mr. Akumfi Ameyaw on his part commended the MP for his contributions to Education Development in the Municipality. He single out the MP’s Teachers Award Scheme that he has instituted in the Constituency and testified that, “two teachers from the school have benefited from his award scheme of which the latest being the 3rd Best Teacher in the Municipality in the 2023 edition where he received a motorbike as a prize.
Addressing the students and staff, the MP, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah assured them of his commitment to address some of the challenges.
“I want to assure the authorities of the school that the NPP led government is very much committed to providing quality education to the people of Ghana, that is why the government has put a lot of measures in place of which the Free SHS Policy plays a key part.”
“My office and that of the Municipal Chief Executive are also committed to ensuring quality education in the municipality and therefore promises to assist not only Kwarteng Ankomah Senior High School but all schools in the municipality to improve the standard of education within the Techiman South Municipality.” Hon. Martin explained.
He continued, “I was so touched after the school authorities drawn my attention to the appalling conditions at the dormitories hence my decision to donate the beds to the school.”
He thanked the teachers for their commitment to duty despite the numerous challenges in the school.
