Techiman South: Hon. Martin reassures constituents of his commitment to ensuring development

The Member of Parliament for Techiman South in the Bono East Region, Hon. Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Korsah, has reassured his constituents of his commitment in ensuring development in the area.

He disclosed that, although his party, the NPP is no longer in power, he will not use that as an excuse to fail them. Hon. Korsah emphasized that there are numerous developmental projects he can still lobby for, even if they are not funded by the government. He also expressed confidence that the John Dramani Mahama-led government will not deprive the people of Techiman of any necessary development projects..

According to the immediate past Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development; there are several developmental projects he initiated while the NPP was in power  which was not funded by the NPP government and  he will do same as he continue to serve them for the next four years.

“Even when my government was in power, there were many things I did for the constituency that were not funded by the central government. While some projects come from the government, there are others that we lobby for independently, which are not funded by the government.

“I don’t believe I will fail my people just because my government is no longer in power. Many MPs initiated and completed significant developmental projects in their constituencies during the 8 years of President Akufo-Addo’s administration, even though they were not NPP MPs. So, I won’t use the excuse that my government is not in power to fail my people

“Government belongs to all of us, not just a particular political party. Therefore, I don’t think the party will deny the people of Techiman their fair share of the nation’s resources simply because their MP is not from their party.” He said

He made this disclosure in an interview with with the media  after he addressed a heavy crowd of NPP supporters and sympathizers in Techiman following a “Thank You Walk” .

Regarding the issues that arose after the elections questioning his legitimacy as the Member of Parliament for Techiman South, he said ”the people of Techiman voted for m,e and from December 7th until today, I have no doubt that I was chosen by the people of Techiman as their Member of Parliament.

”I was never worried about all the court issues and press conferences related to my victory as MP because, from day one, I knew I was elected as their representative.

”I promise to do everything possible to ensure that the people of Techiman gets the best of development. I am willing and committed to serving the people of Techiman, and I will not take their trust in me for granted.”
