The Kyidomhene of the Techiman Traditional Area and Krobohene, Oyeadeye Asa Akompanim, has urged all chiefs and paramount chiefs across the country to surrender the chiefdom to the power and authority of the Most High God.

Oyeadeye Asa Akompanim disclosed that his  chiefdom was divinely saved after his life started to deteriorate following his decision to switch his spiritual allegiance from the “Most High God” to the gods of the land. He explained that if chiefs and paramount chiefs alike dedicate their leadership and communities to God, there would be lasting peace, unity, and prosperity in their areas of jurisdiction.

Oyeadeye Asa Akompanim, the founder of the Fellowship of Christian Chiefs and Queens, made this assertion during an addressing at the Chieftaincy Ministry Area Conference at the Techiman-Dwomor Central of the Church of Pentecost.

According to him, although he was born and raised as a Christian, his desire to succeed as a chief led him to backslide from Christianity to rely on idol worship where he sought spiritual guidance at numerous shrines across the country, a situation he said led to the dissipated of his Christian fate.

“I was enstooled as the Krobohene and Kyidornhene of the Techiman Traditional Area on the 11th of February, 1982, haven been born and raised by Christian (Methodist) parents. Prior to my enstoolment, I was made to believe that a successful Chief needed spiritual support from the gods, mallams and jujumen. Domiciled at Gushiegu in the Northern Region as a forestry officer, I took that opportunity to fortify myself for the task ahead.

“Following the enstoolment was the swearing of traditional/customary oath of allegiance to the Omanhene of Techiman. After the oath, I was led to the Taa Mensah shrine believed to be the head of all gods and deities in the traditional area and guardian of the Techiman chieftaincy territory. At the shrine I was made to touch the Taa Mensah deity with bath hands and asked for its support and spiritual power to enable me succeed as the Krobohene and Kyidomhene of the traditional area. The deal was sealed by the pouring of libation. This completed the enstoolment process.

“Conscious of the consequences, I adhered strictly to the customary commands and dictates of my new office. These include the offering of food, drinks and animal sacrifices on sacred days to the black stool and at sacred places. Prominent among these were ‘monowukuo’, apour and yam festivals. During this time, the Methodism and Christianity in me had dissipated. My allegiance was to the gods of the land, and not the Most High God.” He said.

However, he said his life hit rock bottom despite his dedication to his newfound faith and was saved only after he repented and returned to Christianity. The Kyidomhene of the Techiman Traditional Area and Krobohene recounted how calamity befell his beloved Krobo and how he made the decision to return to Christianity.

“With the neglect of God, life started to deteriorate. Lawlessness, fatal lorry accidents, and abject poverty was  prevalent in the community. On the 26th of December, 1988, while contemplating in bed on this situation bedeviling the town and my personal handicap, I prayed to God for help. The response to my prayer was immidiate, simple, and clear; the Lord said (if you want my help then surrender your life to me.) Mathew chapter 6:33

“The next day, I packed all the items I had received from various spiritualists, deities, jujumen, and mallams and dumbed them into a pit latrine at midnight. On my return home, I knelt before my bed, with my hands raised and surrendered my whole life to God. ” He recounted

Oyeadeye Asa Akompanim continued ” I regained the love for Christ. With the help of Brother Yeboah Asuamah and wife Madam Afena Grace who is currently the Akwamuhemaa of the Techiman Traditional Area, a prayer cell was started in my palace, where morning devotions were held daily.”

He further disclosed that, God has shown His favor on his chiefdom and firmly believe that it is through His guidance that Krobo has  seen success. Oyeadeye Asa Akompanim  urge all chiefs to trust in God’s power and to dedicate their leadership to Him, for only with His blessings can they achieve true prosperity and harmony.
