Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and MP for Techiman North, joined the Techiman North District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, on an inspection visit to multiple ongoing road construction sites throughout the district. The tour allowed them to evaluate the advancement of these infrastructure projects.

Among the roads examined were those connecting Aworano to Mesidan, Aworano to Tako Fiano, Aworano to Tuobodom, Jama to Timponim, along with sections in Abrefi Estate, Krobo, Sebene, Anyinabrem, Konimase, and several others.

Addressing the press following the site visits, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare voiced her approval of both the speed and standard of the construction, especially on routes that had long caused major difficulties for local residents.

She pointed out that, just two and a half months into the work, considerable headway had been achieved, most notably on the Aworano–Kenten bridge, which had previously been a significant issue for travelers.

“The contractor mobilized to the site exactly one week after the contract was awarded. I made a personal commitment not to inspect the work until there was visible improvement on the road.

“Two and a half months after work commenced, I must say I am very impressed with the progress made so far. One of the major challenges faced by the people of Aworano was the poor condition of their road, particularly the bridge connecting Aworano to Kenten.

“The deplorable state of that bridge made it extremely difficult for commuters, especially after rainfall. However, within just two and a half months, the bridge has been successfully fixed.”

The Minister reminded everyone that improving road infrastructure had been a key pledge during the campaign, made under the authority of President John Dramani Mahama, and she stressed the administration’s dedication to fulfilling that commitment.

“During the campaign season, we made a promise, in the name of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, to fix all roads in the Techiman North Constituency. Today, President Mahama is honoring that promise to the good people of Techiman North.”

Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare also disclosed that drainage systems along the roads being built are now fully in place, and she remains confident that every road in the constituency will be paved before the year ends.

She stressed on the broader economic advantages of these initiatives, explaining how they are generating jobs for locals and increasing earnings for nearby food sellers.

“Beyond the bridge, all drainage systems along the roads under construction have been duly completed. I am very optimistic that all the roads in Techiman North will be tarred by the end of the year.

“The road construction works have also created employment opportunities for residents, with some engaged as laborers, while food vendors have experienced increased patronage due to the presence of workers on site.”

Additionally, the Minister mentioned future plans to enhance the area’s appearance after the roads are finished, by adding flowers and trees along the routes.

“When the roads are fully completed, we will plant flowers and trees along them to further beautify Techiman North.”

Nana Yeboah Ameyaw IV, the Chief of Timponim, shared his delight at the start of construction in his area three weeks earlier, following prolonged struggles with access during the wet season.

“Work at Jama Timponim started three weeks ago, and we are all impressed with the pace at which it is progressing. The road used to pose serious challenges, especially whenever it rained, so we are very happy that construction work is now underway at Jama Timponim.

While praising the present government for these advancements, he urged continued commitment to ongoing developments.

“This development shows that the current government is doing very good work, which is highly commendable. However, the government of H.E. John Dramani Mahama should also fulfil its promise to continue and complete all projects that were initiated by the previous government.”
