Techiman Local Council of Churches holds thanksgiving service for peaceful 2024 elections

The Techiman Local Council of Churches has organized a thanksgiving service to express gratitude to God for His mercies and the peace granted to the people of Techiman South before, during, and after the 2024 general elections.

The event, which brought together clergy, church members, and community leaders, was held in at the Techiman Trinity Presbyterian Church in an atmosphere of unity and appreciation for the stability that prevailed throughout the electoral process.

Techiman South was considered a hotspot ahead of the 2024 elections. However, the voting process remained relatively peaceful, aside from the demolition of the District Police Command, which was being used as the Techiman South collation center. The incident was reportedly carried out by suspected NDC party supporters.

Speaking with the media, Chairperson of the Techiman Local Council of Churches, Rev. Dr. Roland Okai, acknowledged God’s divine intervention in ensuring a smooth electoral process. He also led prayers for the continued peace and development of Techiman South and Ghana as a whole.

“We owe God our gratitude and thanksgiving because, without His intervention, we might have experienced something worse than what happened during the 2020 elections.

“We strongly believe that God has been really good to the people of Techiman. That is why we are here today to thank Him for his mercies before, during, during the 2020 elections towards the people of Techiman and Ghana at large.” He said.

Beyond thanksgiving, the council led a special intercessory prayer for leaders of the Bono East Region, reaffirming the church’s commitment to upholding its role in promoting good governance and national harmony.

Rev. Dr. Roland Okai, said “apart from the thanksgiving service, we also held an intercessory prayer for the leaders of the Bono East region, as it is our duty as the Local Council of Churches to do so.”

On his part, the Techiman Area Apostle for the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Amishadai Dwomoah Amakwah, seized the opportunity to urge Christians to embody the values of Christianity in every aspect of their lives.

He disclosed that there should be no disparity between a Christian’s faith and their daily life. According to him, Christians should replicate the goodness of Christianity in all their endeavors irrespective of where they find themselves.

“The  word of God does not change and must not change no matter where or how it is preached.

”The only way for Christians to understand the word of God and work toward fulfilling its teachings is to read the Bible consistently. As Christians, we should not only read the word of God but also live in accordance with the scriptures.

”There should be no disparity between how we worship God and how we behave at work. A Christian’s faith should be reflected in their daily life. We should embody the goodness of Christianity in all our endeavors.

“A Christian must be an ambassador of Christ everywhere, whether at home, at work, or in public. Christians should reflect the values of Christianity in every aspect of their lives. A true Christian must see their work as a ministry in service to God.” He said.

The Techiman Local Council of Churches encouraged all citizens to continue upholding the values of unity, tolerance, and prayer as Ghana moves forward.
