The Techiman Dagaaba Youth Association, has announced plans to play a football match with their harmonious Techiman Frafra Youth Association.
The highly anticipated football match will take place on Saturday, 24th August, 2024, at the Kenten Roman Catholic park in the Techiman South Municipality of the Bono East Region.
The game will kickstart at exactly 9:00am and is expected to attract a large crowd of enthusiastic fans.
The Techiman Dagaaba Youth Association, founded on 20th August 2023 , has made significant strides in promoting youth development and community engagement in Techiman. The association on 25th August, 2024, will celebrates its 1 year anniversary.
It is common knowledge in Ghana that the Dagaaba and the Frafra have an admirably cordial relationship. They can joke and tease each other in the public without either taking undue offence as they have mutual understanding as Mabia, or playmates. Either party’s age, sex, religion, educational or social status does not influence this cordial relationship; being born in either tribe is the sufficient prerequisite
The football game, which is part of the 1 year anniversary celebrations of the Techiman Dagaaba Youth Association, will not only showcase the talents of young athletes from both associations but also foster greater unity and cooperation among the two tribes.
The Techiman Dagaaba Youth Association invites fans from all over Techiman to come and support their favorite team.
President of the Techiman Dagaaba Youth Association, James Mwinwel, in an interview with Elvisanokyenews.com, explained that, before the commencement of the football game, they will embark on a float to create awareness and officially usher in the 1 year anniversary celebrations.
He further disclosed that, the symbol of the Frafra/Dagaaba unity is a dog, so a puppy will be the overall winning prize at the game.
“Towards the grand durbar on Sunday, 24th August, 2024, there will be a float on Saturday, 24th August, 2024 and everyone can participate, including the Frafra.
“The float will start at the Zongo M/A park and we will end it at the Kenten Roman Catholic Park, when we end the float, there will be a football match between the Dagaba and Frafra and between these tribes, whenever there is a match, we will have a dog and puppy.
“The puppy will serve as the trophy which will be given to the winners of which I know it will be the Dagaba’s and the dog will on the other hand be served for all those that will participate in the float and games.
“Everyone in the world knows that the Frafra are our slaves, we are their kings and queens so once we beat them in the football game, they will humbly present the puppy to us, we will then take care of the puppy and we will present it God willing next year when we meet them again in a football game.” He said
James Mwinwel, said organizers of the anniversary is planning to organize a music night for the youth of both tribes after the football game as most of the musicians that are slated to perform during the grand durbar will arrive on Saturday, 24th August, 2024.
“On that very same day, we will welcome most of the musicians that will be performing during the durbar, the likes of David B.B, Madstone, Best Felix, Cletus Leley, Kwame B, including many others will arrive on Saturday and we are planning to have a little music night for the youth before the main event on Sunday, August 25th.
