The Techiman Dagaaba Youth Association, will on Sunday 25th August 2024, celebrates its one year anniversary at the Techiman Kenten Roman Catholic Park

The association, which aims to empower and support the youth from the Dagaaba ethnic group in their personal and professional development, has made significant progress in its first year and is eager to reflect on its achievements and share its vision for the future.

President of the Techiman Dagaaba Youth Association, James Mwinwel says the event will feature a series of speeches from prominent guest speakers who will inspire and motivate the young attendees from the Dagaaba community. These speeches, he said,  will focus on topics such as leadership, entrepreneurship, and community service, providing valuable insights and guidance to help the youth achieve their goals and make a positive impact in their communities.

He used the occasion to mention some of the dignitaries that will be gracing the occasion on that fateful day

“The program will come on at the Kenten Roman Catholic Park in the Techiman South Municipality, a lot of speeches will be delivered by a lot of dignitaries, we will have a lot of performances by various Dagaaba musicians, the likes of David B.B, Cletus Lele, Kwame B, Madstone, Best Felix the Dagaaba Youth Association Bawa group, we will have other dancing groups from the Upper West region, Kintampo,  and many others will come to perform on that very day.

“The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon.  Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, will be our special guest of honor, the special guest speakers will be His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Techiman South, Christopher Bayere, the Techiman North Member of Parliament, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Techiman North NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Martin Oti-Gyarko, the Upper West Dagaaba Members of Parliament, the C.E.O OF Dagara Culture Connect Helen Dery,will all be coming to grace the occasion.

According to him, the Techiman Dagaaba Youth Association, has been dedicated to providing a platform for young people from the Dagaaba ethnic group to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another.

He revealed that the association has made a tangible impact in the lives of hundreds of young Dagaaba people in Techiman and beyond.

“The association was duly launched on 20th August 2023 with a membership of not more than 100 but as I speak, we are having approximately 600 members which shows that our membership is increasing rapidly.

“When you come to the Bono East region, the Dagaaba alone constitutes about 42% of the population according to the Ghana Statistical Service.

“We formed the association to unify all Dagaabas within the region, to help ourselves in search of job opportunities, to promote and maintain our rich cultural values so on the 25th of this month August, we are going to have our 1 year anniversary.” He told our reporter.

James MwinweI, finally encouraged all and sundry to come and grace the occasion, as they are all set and eagerly rehearsing towards 25th August, 2024.
