The Techiman Aduana Royal Family, gathered together on Friday 30th August, 2024, to celebrate the annual Munufie Yam Festival at the new Aduana Royal Palace.
The ceremony, which is the first of it’s kind at the new royal palace, brought together members of the Techiman Traditional Council, the Aduana Royal Family, and the community to express gratitude to the divine powers for their successful yam harvest.
The Munufie Yam Festival, which has been observed for centuries by the people of the Bono kingdom, serves as a reminder of the importance of agriculture and the bounty of the land. The festival is also a time for the people of Techiman and the Bono people to come together, strengthen bonds, and give thanks for the fruits of their labor and officially pave way for them to eat yam.
During the ceremony, the royal family offered prayers and sacrifices to the gods, expressing their deepest gratitude for a bountiful harvest. They also shared stories of their ancestors, who relied on the land for sustenance and prosperity.
The Techiman Aduanahene and Nifahene of the Techman Traditional Council, Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentenprem II, during his address to the gathering, expressed his profound gratitude to the Almighty God for his protection, blessing and favor upon the Aduana Family, he further thanked the Paramount Chief of the Techiman Traditional Area, Hon. Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, members of the Techiman Aduana Royal Family and all and sundry who have so far supported him since the very first day he was enstooled as the Techiman Aduanahene.
“We are gathered here at the Aduana Royal Palace to celebrate this year’s yam festival, I will first and foremost give thanks to the Almighty God for his blessings and favor on our family, I will also thank all the chiefs and the Techiman Aduana Family for helping and supporting me in building a new palace for our family and a very big thanks goes to my Paramount Chief, Hon. Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV for his guidance.” He said.
He also used the occasion to throw more light on the newly Aduana Royal Palace at Techiman, he said the palace when completed will be a three storey building, with a palace, bedrooms, offices and a conference hall.
“We plan to build a three storey building, the first phase is what we are saying and that compromises of the royal palace, the second phase will be the second floor and that is where we will have our bedrooms offices and the third phase which is the third floor will be a very big conference room.
“We are not here to officially outdoor our new palace but to celebrate this year’s Munifie Yam Festival which is a very important festival for the people of Techiman and the Bono people.” Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentenprem II said
The Techiman Aduana Royal Famil,y believes that the Munufie Yam Festival is not only a celebration of their harvest but also an opportunity to reconnect with their roots and reaffirm their commitment to preserving the traditions and values of their people.
