2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Artiste of the Year, Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy has lamented over how the water bodies and forest reserves have been destroyed by illegal mining professionally known as “galamsey”.

In a seven (7) seconds video shared by the Ghanaian Afropop, Afro-dancehall and reggae musician, the color of the water has turned brown.

According to Stonebwoy, he loves Ghana that is why he shared the video of the state of the water bodies in Ghana.

He said Ghanaians expecially, the leaders should not concern about the messenger who carries the message but they should be proactive and take appropriate solutions to the content of the message.

“The Message. The Message. Not The Messenger.. I love Ghana. Video About a Week Ago..” Stonebwoy wrote.

It is unclear which water it was but the musician was in Samreboi last week to perform at the coronation of Samatex who won the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

Stonebwoy is not the only celebrity who has spoken about the bad state of the water bodies in Ghana and its consequences as a result of illegal mining.

Many Ghanaians have raised concerns about the effects of the water bodies and the forest reserves destroyed by illegal mining in the country.

Ghana’s president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo declared war on illegal mining (galamsey) prior to the 2016 and the 2020 elections but proved unsuccessful.

According to reports, some prominent people in the country, especially the politicians, are all involved in the galamsey activities, hence, the failure in the fight against illegal mining.

Meanwhile, Accra-based United Television (UTV) presenter, Agya Kwabena has said God will not forgive the leaders who are watching and allow the water bodies and the forest reserves to be destroyed.

He said Ghanaians will suffer in the coming years if appropriate measures are not taken now to solve the problem.

“President Akufo-Addo if you don’t take care you will end your tenure with a bad legacy, Vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is also seeking to be elected as a president will also go home with a bad legacy. What are the leaders doing? If you leave the citizens to suffer and then you leave the country to go and stay abroad because you have money, God will not forgive you.” Agya Kwabena said this on his show.
