Fans have started debates on who should win artiste of the year.

The Ghana Music Awards, now known as Telcel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) is scheduled to hold this year’s ceremony on June 1.

Ahead of this, supporters of Ghanaian Afropop, Afro-dancehall and reggae musician, Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name Stonebwoy has called out renowned Journalist Akwasi Aboagye for alleging that Stonebwoy should allow King Promise to win artiste of the year because he has won it before.

“A whole renowned Senior Journalist like Akwasi Aboagye making claims that Stonebwoy should allow King Promise to win artiste of the year because he has won it before and King Promise hasn’t .” The fans said this in a Faceboom post by Panafrican Buss.Europe.

They said Stonebwoy deserves artist of the year so the unnecessary and hatred agenda against him should stop.

“Are we supposed to award people based on sympathy or hard work? Imagine an artiste who has the highest nominations under the year review contending with an artiste with just one hit song. Well if Stonebwoy has been able to march the necessary requirements needed to win artiste of the year forget about unnecessary and hatred agenda towards him and give him what he deserves it’s as simple as that .”

“No artiste has won the artiste of the year without an Album at the TGMAs. Black Sherif won the ultimate over Stonebwoy last year because Stonebwoy didn’t release an Album in that year so it was understandable, now that he deserves it too people want to divert the conversation.

“Stonebwoy deserves an artist of the year change and nobody can change the narrative. God is watching y’all haters lol”

Meanwhile, Black Sherif, King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy have been nominated as Artist of The Year.

Stonebwoy is leading the Telcel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) nominations with (fifteen) 15 nods, Kuami Eugene with fourteen (14) nominations, Sarkodie  with eight (8) nominations, and Black Sheriff six (6) nominations.
