“Stem Education is critical for nation building” — Adiembrahene

The Adiembrahene of Adiembra near Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District, Nana Appiah Dankwah I, who also serves as the Dabehene of the Nkawie Traditional Council, has underscored the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, describing it as critical for national development in the 21st century.

He has therefore called on stakeholders to support the government’s efforts in promoting STEM education to help equip learners with relevant skills for the future.

Speaking to the media after inspecting a three-unit classroom block under construction for the Adiembra Anglican Primary School, Nana Appiah Dankwah commended the school’s management for their commitment and expressed confidence that the new facility would enhance teaching and learning.

According to him, the project, which has reached about 95 percent completion, is part of his commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the community. The initiative follows the school’s outstanding performance in a recent quiz competition, which prompted the Atwima Mponua Education Directorate to promise STEM logistics support for the school.

“Quality education is a very important asset that we can leave for our younger generation. I therefore urge parents and teachers alike to ensure that learners receive the best education for the betterment of our community.

“I also urge the learners to adhere to the instructions of their teachers and make sure they study at home in order to keep their minds sharp.”

The Headmaster of Adiembra Anglican Primary School, Mr. Evans Agyei Awuah, expressed appreciation to the traditional leaders and the community for their continuous support. He said the school’s recent academic achievements had boosted morale among teachers and learners.

He further expressed delight that Adiembra Anglican Primary School had been selected among 15 schools in the Atwima Mponua District to benefit from the government’s STEM education initiative.

“We are very happy that out of the 220 schools in the Atwima Mponua District, Adiembra Anglican Primary School has been selected among the 15 schools for STEM education in the district.

“This is a testament to the good work of our Committee Chairman, Nana Appiah Dankwah, and the School Management Committee in supporting the school.

“Our vision for the next 10 years is to become one of the best schools, not only in the Atwima Mponua District but in Ghana at large.”

The Assembly Member for the Adiembra/Edumasa Electoral Area, Hon. Issah Abdullah (Egu Apa So), also commended the efforts of Nananom and the School Management Committee for initiating the construction of the STEM block. He said the project would go a long way to promote educational development in the area.
