The traditional leaders in charge of deities in Sokode Traditional Area in the Ho municipality in the Volta region of Ghana, have lifted a death curse placed on President Akufo-Addo and Prof. Lydia Aziato, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) over conferment of honorary doctorate degree.
They prayed to the gods of Sokode to cancel the death curse against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to avoid any future consequences.
It will be recalled that the Council of UHAS planned to confer an honorary doctorate degree on President Nana Addo for making science education more accessible to Ghanaians and the development of UHAS.
The Dutor of Sokode Traditional Area, Togbe Awee Japhet Amoako who addressed the media explained that they intended to annul the curse to ensure that there will be no bad news.
“This is our land so you cannot perform any rituals without our permission. The school is not for only a group of people, it is for everybody. Every government does their part to promote development in the country. We don’t want anything bad to happen to everyone.” He said.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dinkum has shot down the Youth Wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region statement calling for cancellation of plans to confer an honorary doctorate degree on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
