The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Minerals Commission and Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic party (NPP), Hon Shirley Kyei Tiwaah and Middle Belt Authority has presented 500 dual desks to Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Education Directorate in the Ashanti region.
The move, according to the NPP PC, is to enhance teaching and learning activities in the constituency and Ghana at large.
She said education is the backbone of the country and the most important resource a human being can acquire, reasons for the NPP government under the leadership of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo implemented FREE Senior High School (SHS).
Speaking to the media, Madam Shirley Kyei Tiwaah emphasized the need for everybody to have access to education so they will do their best to promote teaching and learning in the country.
For his part, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly, Hon Michael Amoah Awuku who presented the dual desks on her behalf appealed to Ghanaians to cultivate a culture of maintenance of government properties and corporate institutions.
“Many people don’t haddle dua desks properly, they just misplace them after using them. Churches who attend church in classrooms should also handle it well to last longer.” He said.
The MCE also appealed to the Assembly Members to visit the schools regularly in order to identify their problems and check how government properties are being used to save the country from financial loss.
“The teachers should check how the students use the dua desks and the Assembly Members should visit the schools regularly to help identify their problems and fix it early. One thing I don’t want to see or hear is that some students don’t have dua desks. We see some on social media.” He added.
Nana Pokuaa Amoako, Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Education Director thanked the authorities for their gesture saying it would go a long way to boost education development.
“It will go a long way to help us because we were having a problem with furniture. The Assembly does their part to help us whenever we need desks, so this additional 500 will help solve a lot of problems we are facing.” She stated.
Meanwhile, some of the Assembly Members and Heads of Basic Schools who received the dual desks commended the authorities for the presentation.
