Some concerned members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from Parambo/Sawaba in the Pru East Constituency of the Bono East Region, have called on the party leadership to appoint a Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) from their township.
The concern members, which includes some party executives and supporters in a press conference, expressed dissatisfaction in the NDC leadership accusing them of bias in the appointment of Municipal Chief Executives.
According to the group, since 1992 to date, no MCE has been appointed from Parambo/Sawaba to manage the affairs of the Pru East Constituency, despite the presence of many capable individuals from the area who are qualified for the role.
The Branch Organizer for Parambo/Sawaba electoral area, Hon. Bodua Yaw Simon, revealed that despite directives from NDC’s national headquarters to appoint MCEs from a town other than the one where the MP resides, this has not been followed in Pru East, which has fueled their grievances.
“In any dispute or misunderstanding within the party, let’s abide by the directive from NDC National Headquarters of appointing MCE, different town from where the current MP resides. Let me remind you back from 1992 to 2025, where most of the members of parliament were elected from the township and at the same time, most DCs are also appointed from the same town and it’s totally unfair.
“From the time of our first MP, Hon. D.Y Mensah is coming from Yeji township, Hon. Masaudu, is from Prang, Hon. Kwabena Donkor is from Yeji township, Hon. Kwaku Boam, our current member of parliament, is also coming from Yeji township. Therefore, in order to ensure fairness, equity and representation,
“We strongly advise against appointing another MC from Yeji township this year. On the basis that since 2005 till date, DCs are coming from;. Hon. Idi is from Prang. Hon. Masaudu from Prang Hon. Akompra from Yeji. Hon. Jalula from Jaman Nkwanta, Hon. Adams from Yeji and currently, Hon. Haruna from Yegyi Why not Parambo/Sawaba?” He said.
Hon. Bodua Yaw Simon appealed to the NDC leadership to consider their request, stating that doing so would not only promote inclusivity in the Pru East Constituency but also foster the development the constituency deserves
“We plead with the government and all NDC stakeholders to take our concern into consideration and appoint a new MC from a different town like Parambo/Sawaba and its environs. This decisions will not only promote inclusivity but also bring about much needed development that our constituency deserves. There is a saying that when you leave your child on the floor and he’s not crying, It doesn’t mean that he’s not angry nor tasted, but therefore when he starts to cry, pampering him will be something else.
“We believe this change in leadership will usher a new era of growth and progress, and we believe the new government will accordingly listen to our concern and act to the will of the people of Pro-East constituency. We hope the new MC will not come from Yeji Township.
“Enough of the bias and we shall not take it anymore. Long live Ghana, long live Pro-East Constituency.” He said
