The Member of Parliament for Pru East in the Bono East Region, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has outlined major security interventions and development initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and boosting economic growth in the area. He made these remarks during the 2025 Yeji Kajuji Festival, where he addressed chiefs and residents of Yeji.
He described Yeji as one of the most vibrant market centres in the Bono East Region, serving as a critical trading hub for surrounding communities. He noted that although the area had recently recorded incidents of theft and armed robbery, swift measures have been implemented to restore safety and protect livelihoods.
He further revealed that 50 police officers have been deployed to Yeji and its adjoining communities to enhance security visibility and clamp down on criminal activities. He added that the intervention extends beyond Yeji, with Atebubu, Pru West and other neighbouring districts collaborating closely to support the police in maintaining law and order.
Touching on road security, the MP stated that the stretch from Amanten into Yeji now has about 15 police checkpoints to improve surveillance and safeguard travellers, traders and residents who rely on the corridor for economic activities.
In terms of development, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam disclosed that the constituency boasts vast lands suitable for large-scale agricultural investment, particularly for Chinese investors as proposed by the Minister for Trade and Agribusiness. He emphasized that such investments can only flourish in an atmosphere of peace and unity.
He therefore urged the people of Yeji and Kadue to remain united and foster harmony to ensure sustained progress and development in the area.
On education, Hon. Boam announced that the Minister for Education has assured the community of a new dormitory project for the Yeji Technical Senior High School. He said the facility, once completed, will ease accommodation challenges and significantly improve teaching and learning at the school.
