Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said former Education Minister and running mate to National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang is among few ministers who left funds for their successors.
He said, Prof. Opoku Agyemang deserves to be celebrated not vilified with false narratives.
“In the entire history of Ghana, how many ministers have left funds for their successors? Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang deserves to be celebrated not vilified with false narratives.” Okudzeto Ablakwa wrote on his X in response to the claim by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the former Minister left arrears at the Education Ministry.
According to him, Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang successfully negotiated, secured and left behind €45million for the construction of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development in the Eastern Region and over US$20million for various TVET and skills development initiatives under COTVET.
“Prof. negotiated, secured and left behind €45million for the construction of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development in the Eastern Region” He said.
“Prof. negotiated, secured and left behind some US$75million under the 2014 World Bank supported $156million Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP); Prof. left over US$20million for various TVET and skills development initiatives under COTVET.” Okudzeto added.
“Why are they dishonestly silent on the over $143million Prof. Opoku-Agyemang creatively negotiated, secured and left for her successor?” He added.

A number of dazed NPP communicators have shamelessly ignored the current debilitating arrears in the education sector and are launching blistering attacks on Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang over arrears they inaccurately claim she left at the Education Ministry.
Why are they dishonestly silent on the over $143million Prof. Opoku-Agyemang creatively negotiated, secured and left for her successor?
