The extension of Auditor-General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu contract for another two years has met mixed reactions on social media.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended the contract of the Auditor-General who was due for statutory retirement on August 1, 2024.
A notice to the staff read “I wish to bring to the information of all staff that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, has extended the tenure of the office of the Auditor General, Mr. Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu for the next two years”
“Mr. Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu was due for statutory retirement on August 1, 2024. The Service extends its congratulations to our Auditor General on the extension of his appointment. Thank you,” Part of the notice read.
Reacting to this, some social media users described the extension of contract as “post retirement contract”
Others said former Auditor-General of Ghana, Daniel Yaw Domelevo should have been given this extension of contract.
“Ghanaians wanted Domelovo to be given this but the mother serpent of corruption, the clearing Agent, the head of Akyem sakawa mafia, and head of criminal cartel @NAkufoAddo said NO!” One user wrote.
