The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Ketu North MP Edem Agbana has said players who rejected Ghana previously do not deserve a place in the World Cup.
According to him, players who committed themselves and worked hard for the Black Stars to qualify should be the ones selected for the World Cup.
“I believe that to qualify to be selected to play for the Black Stars must come with some level of commitment. Every player who rejected the call up during the qualification does not deserve a place in the team as we move to the World Cup. Those who dedicated their time and energy to help us qualify should be the ones selected for the World Cup.” Edem Agbana said this when speaking in Parliament.
His comment comes after debate continues on whether or not Eddie Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi should be allowed to join the Black Stars for the World Cup.
Some Ghanaians believe that they should not be allowed to Black for Ghana while others are also calling for their inclusion.
But the Lawmaker indicated that it is hard time the authorities take a bold decision to deny the two players from joining the National Team for the World Cup to serve as a deterrent to others.
Edem stressed that Ghanaians must now show some level of commitment and patriotism to enhance national development.
“We must teach every Ghanaian the values of patriotism and commitment, we must let young people of this country appreciate that whether in tough times or not we must all prepare to sacrifice and die for this country.” He stated.
