A Parliamentary delegation led by the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Andrews Asiamah Amoako, on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 presented the Democracy Cup to the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and the Police Administration.
The presentation of the cup to the police is to officially invite the Police leadership to the Democracy Cup match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, at the Accra Sports Stadium, tomorrow Wednesday 17th July 2024.
The Democracy Cup aims to promote parliamentary democracy through sports.
Meanwhile, FIFA Referee Juliet Appiah will officiate the Democracy Cup who will be assisted by Doris Essuman Darko (Assistant 1), Mary Tei (Assistant 2) and Joyce Obenewaa Appiah serving as Fourth Official to facilitate the much awaited clash between the two Ghana Premier League Giants.
Again, Retired Referee Vivian Aggor has been named as the Match Commissioner for the Wednesday match.
For the Parliamentarians and former Black Stars players match, Sophia Azumah has been appointed as the centre referee together with Angela Tsakpoe as (Assistant 1), Blessing Abena Oppong as (Assistant 2) and Cynthia Yaa Mensah serving as Fourth Official.
Ahead of the match, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has said “The Narrative of Hearts of Oak winning maiden trophies is going to change tomorrow because it’s a new era.”
Asante Kotoko will face Accra Hearts of Oak with their new signed players.
According to Kotok, there is a new FOX in the BOX, as the club welcomed an attacking talent brewed and refined in the heart of Kumasi.
Elvis Kyei Baffour who is the fourth new player ahead of the next season joined Kotoko on a three-year contract.
The Democracy Cup will determine the strength of the new players who have joined Kotoko.
The Porcupine Warriors are gearing up for the next season.
