Otto Addo will remain as the Head Coach of the Senior National Team, Black Stars of Ghana despite the team’s abysmal performance during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Randy Abbey who confirmed to Original FM in an interview said the GFA main focus now is to qualify for the World Cup.
According to the Black Stars Management Committee Chairman, the GFA has taken the decision already and they have no plans to sack Otto Addo.
He said Otto Addo will be retained but they are working hard to ensure that the poor trend of results that led to non-qualification for AFCON is reversed to put the Black Stars back on the winning path.
“The GFA has no intention to sack Otto Addo. He will be maintained as the Head Coach, our main focus is about the World Cup qualifiers and finding a lasting solution to the Black Stars poor performances.
The joy of Ghanaians were shattered after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Otto Addo was eventually summoned by the GFA on November 27, 2024, to discuss his technical report on the AFCON qualifiers and the overall performance of the technical team since he assumed duty.
Many Ghanaians suggested that Otto Addo should not continue as the Black Stars Head Coach but Randy Abbey indicated that the GFA is keeping Otto Addo.
The World Cup qualifiers will start from March, 2025 and Ghana will face Chad and Madagascar for Matchday 5 and 6.
Black Stars Players have expressed optimism of qualifying for the World Cup to restore the hope of Ghana Football.
