The Headmaster of Osei Tutu Senior High School at Akropong in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti region, Very Rev. Bright Yaw Osei has lamented lack of modern Science Laboratory to meet 21st Century education.

According to him, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) are the leading courses in the 21st Century but lack of modern Science Laboratory affect teaching and learning.

He said the students’ performances in science are poor due to lack of equipment for practicals.

“We are in the 21st Century, and 21st Century education mostly is about STEM education which is mostly Science. But since the school was established in 1940, we have been using the same classroom which was converted to a Science Laboratory. There is no apparatus or anything that meets the modern Science equipment. The teachers are doing their best but because we lack a standard Science Laboratory, the students’ performance in science is low.” He lamented.

Rev. Bright Yaw Osei made this lamentation during the school had mentorship training with time with personality profile aimed at educating the students to be serious and focus on their education as a catalyst for discipline measures.

He appealed to the government, PTA, Old Boys and other stateholders to come to their aid to improve teaching and learning of science in the school.

“So we are pleading for a modern Science Laboratory with all the equipment to improve the teaching and learning of science. So I am calling on the government, philanthropists, Old boys and PTA to come to our aid and give us a befitting science lab to help the students.” The Headmaster appealed.
