Nyinahin Ankobeahene and Chief of Nyinahin – Akota, Nana Amoako Ogyampa Berima has commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for their efforts on discovered and preserved Bauxite in Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti region.
Nyinahin contributes largest in the estimated 900mn metric tonnes of Bauxite resources in Ghana with 700mn metric tonnes, followed by Kyebi in the Eastern region with 160mn metric tonnes and Awaso in the Western-North region with 60mn metric tonnes.
According to source, all successive governments have not been able to start the operations until the Ghana Integrated Aluminum Development Corporation (GIADEC) a state agency set up to develop and promote the aluminium industry, in collaboration with Rocksure International, a strategic, wholly domestic partner, revealed the estimate on November 14, 2023.
Speaking on behalf of the Traditional Council of Nyinahin, Nana Amoako Ogyampa appealed to the Members of Parliaments to speed up the passage of the Bauxite Bill to boost development.
“Let me use this opportunity to thank President Nana Akufo-Addo and Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. If today Nyinahin can boast of a Bauxite as the largest district in Ghana it means these respected leaders have played a crucial role. We are therefore appealing to our Honourable Members of Parliament to ensure that the Bill is passed as soon as possible.” He said.
He said the Bauxite in Nyinahin will create more jobs and reduce the high unemployment rate in the district and Ghana at large if they commence to mine.
According to him, a lot of people are traveling abroad because of unemployment and for that if Bauxite is properly used for Ghana to become a first nation on the West Africa continent to achieve full vertical integration in the aluminium industry, more jobs will be created for the youth.
Nana Amoako Ogyampa encouraged investors to take advantage of the bauxite prospects to create wealth and develop the district.
