The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for Bantama Constituency in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Fiifi Mensah has revealed that Member of Parliament hopeful for Bantama Constituency, Lawyer Ralph Agyapong is not a recognized member of the NPP in Bantama constituency.
He said the first day Mr. Ralph Agyapong paid his dues was the day he was going for vetting.
Adding that the large number of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the constituency don’t even know him as a party member so voting him as the Member of Parliament for Bantama constituency will not promote development and will affect the party ahead of the general elections.
Lawyer Ralph Agyapong has vowed to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama constituency, Francis Asenso-Boakye.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa FM monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, Fiifi Mensah appealed to Ralph Agyapong to step down for Francis Asenso-Boakye to continue the good work he has started.
“My brother Ralph should wait and allow Francis Asenso-Boakye to continue his good work. Ralph must do the needful in the Bantama constituency for us to recognize him well in the Bantama NPP.” He stated.
The Chairman added that the brother of the maverick politician, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has not worked for Bantama NPP before so he should come back and do the needful.
“If I say he should do the needful before his name can be written in the book of Bantama NPP, I mean Ralph has not in any ways work for the party in Bantema before, The day he was going to the vetting, in the vetting room was the day he paid his dues. Even then, the vetting committee asked him, have you paid your dues and he said no and they told him to pay dues before he called someone and the person came and paid his dues” He added.
“He is not a recognized member of Bantama NPP, In fact, until he showed up to contest for the Member of Parliament (MP), A lot of people in the constituency didn’t know him. For me I know him personally, As a Chairman, I know Raph for so many years, I won’t lie. He is my friend, we communicate, we meet and do so many things but this is a personal relationship. But for Bantama NPP, no, we don’t know him. He has not done anything, he is not part of the party” Fiifi Mensah indicated.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Ralph Agyapong has warned the Leadership of the party to be careful on how members are being treated.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, Ralph Agyapong stated that the party is on fire so the executives should play their roles well.
“NPP doesn’t belong to one person, I went to NPP primaries in 2010 in Tano North so NPP doesn’t belong to one person. And am saying it so they should listen to me, Last Saturday, Ken Agyapong was in Kumasi to attend one of our cousin’s wedding, so I went there with my team and we were communicating with Ken, I was told someone took a video of us and sent to the constituency Chairman and said we were speaking with Ken and the Chairman questioned why they went to Ken. Eiii, are you the one who will give directives on where someone should go?” He quizzed.
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled its primaries to elect Members of Parliaments on January 20, 2024 across all the 174 constituencies in the country ahead of the general elections.
The party is determined to win the elections to continue their policies that will help them to transform the country.
