Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat Hearts of Oak 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium to win the maiden edition of the Democracy Cup on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
Ahead of the match, Kumasi Asante Kotoko at a press conference said “The Narrative of Hearts of Oak winning maiden trophies was going to change because it’s a new era.”
Kotoko faced their rival for the Democracy Cup with their new signed players which the Premier League Giant believes will change the face and records of Kotoko.
Reacting to the Democracy Cup trophy, Kotoko said not everyone deserves a virgin it is mostly reserved for Warriors.
“Not everyone deserves a virgin. It is mostly reserved for WARRIORS.” Asante Kotoko said on their social media haddle X.
The comment has sparked a lot of reactions on social media.
While others are congratulating Kotoko for winning the Democracy Cup, others are urging them to win the League trophy.
The Porcupine Warriors are in the process of rebuilding the team after their abysmal performance in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko ended the league on the sixth position which forced the club to part ways with more than 21 players.
Currently, the Porcupine Warriors have signed five new players as part of their rebuilding process for the 2024/25 Premier League.
