The Techiman North District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, has revealed that the Nkoko Nkintinkiti Project, when fully implemented, will bring poultry production closer to households and help revitalize Ghana’s poultry sector.
He made the remarks during the 2025 National Farmers’ Day celebrations in Techiman North, which took place at Mesidan, where he explained that the project forms part of the government’s efforts to reduce imports of frozen chicken into the country.
“The Nkoko Nkintinkiti project is designed to bring poultry production directly to the doorsteps of every Ghanaian home. The project forms part of the poultry industry revitalization to reduce imports of frozen chicken into the country.
“According to United State Department of Agric (USDA) Ghana imports 460,000 metric tones of frozen chicken annually. Our Poultry farm-to-table Project will eliminate poultry imports and increase local production. The government plans to revamp the poultry sector by investing in hatcheries, feed mills, processing and distribution.”
Hon. Johnson outlined that the government plans to invest in hatcheries, feed mills, processing, and distribution to revamp the poultry sector. Under the Nkoko Nkintinkiti Project, smaller households will be targeted to receive 50 birds and technical support to ensure sustainability. The initiative is expected to eventually cover 60,000 households producing eggs and fresh poultry for the market.
Hon. Adom Johnson further explained that registration for participation is ongoing and interested individuals are encouraged to contact extension officers in their communities for guidance.
“The ‘Nkoko nkintinkiti’ project is estimated to cover Sixty thousand (60,000) households that would be producing eggs and fresh poultry for the market. The project has been launched and various individuals were urged to register through the extension officers across the District. The registration is still ongoing and interested parties have the opportunity to contact the officers for necessary assistance at their various communities.”
He revealed that on Thursday, November 27, 2025, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana cut sod for the construction of a poultry processing factory in Tano South Municipality, which is expected to create a ready market for local poultry farmers and ensure the availability of chemical-free eggs and chicken for local consumption.
“Under this programme smaller households are targeted to receive 50 birds and other technical support to ensure sustainability. On Thursday 27th November,2025 His Excellency the president of the Republic of Ghana has cut sod for the construction of a processing factory at Tano South Municipality. This is to create already market for poultry and ensure quality eggs and chicken for local consumption of chemical free chicken.
