NHIA introduces new services to enhance customer experience

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in the Bono East, has introduced a range of new services aimed at improving customer experience and access to healthcare.

The Regional Director, Mr. George Danquah, addressing the media explained that the newly introduced services are designed to make the scheme more user-friendly and beneficial to its customers.

According to him, free checkups for beneficiaries during their birth month, automatic renewal for membership of SSNIT contributors, and the coverage for childhood cancers are some of the new services introduced by the NHIA in Bono East include:

Mr. Danquah explained that these new services are part of the NHIA’s efforts to ensure that customers receive reliable and efficient services as his outfit seeks to decrease the load on its beneficiaries while making healthcare more accessible and affordable.

“We have again introduce the coverage of all the four childhood cancers in our scheme, this is very important to us because the wellbeing and safety of our children is very crucial to the development of every country of which Ghana is no exception, so even before we decided to add the childhood cancers to our package, we embarked on intensive sensitization to draw the attention of the public on it.

” We have also added automatic renewal to our packages, if someone is a SSNIT contributor, or a SSNIT pensioner, that individual will no longer have to pay to renew his or her National Health Insurance membership.

“The system will automatically renew it for such individuals and they will get an SMS notification on their phones provided they have the same number they used to register for the NHIS in their phones.

“Why should someone have to fall sick before they visit the hospital, one thing that we all fall short of as Ghanaians is regular checkups, you know prevention is better than cure so our new C.E.O has introduced preventive and promotive healthcare to our benefit packages.

“If you are a Health Insurance Member, you will have access to free health checkup in your month of birth.” He told the media

Mr. Danquah appealed to pharmacy operators in the region to collaborate with the NHIA. He assured them that by doing so, they would be eligible to sign contracts and receive monthly payments for their services.

He said pharmacy operators in other regions of Ghana have already partnered with the NHIA, but Bono East remains the only region without that partnership and therefore encouraged pharmacy operators in the region to enroll in the scheme.
