Black Stars captain, André Morgan Rami Ayew widely called Dede Ayew has urged the next person who will captain the Senior National Team to prepare well.

According to him, to lead a national team is a very huge task and that next player on the line should groom himself well.

Delivering a lecture on sports psycology at the University of Ghana Dede Ayew stated that if you are a captain of the Black Stars, it is not just to be the leader of the team but to be a leader of millions of people that look at you and access your behaviour and everything.

“It has different meanings or different ways of being a leader. What I can say is I was lucky to have been captain or been a leader to different players and clubs, I was able to lead the nation. It is a different situation altogether. Being a Ghanaian who grew up in the country, we went, came back to wear the colour of the nation is a huge responsibility.” He said.

“It is something that you need to be prepared well for, not just to be the leader of a football nation but to be a leader of millions of people that look at you. Your behaviour, they will talk about everything that happens to you so being a leader involves much but the most important is to unite the group to follow on goal.” Dede Ayew emphasized.

Talking about his life experience in football, Dede Ayew said it is a great achievement that his dream has come into reality.

“I think this is one of the best tournaments in my life. When you are a young player or person and you dream, when your dream comes to pass, I think there is nothing better than that at that moment. This is just a follow up of the World Cup in 2008, following my career, I think it was a great achievement.” He added.
