The Director of Communication of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has chidded the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for tagging Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh also known as Napo, the running to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as arrogance.
According to Ahiagbah, the combination of Bawumia and Napo is a headache to the NDC since the flagbearer and the running mate of their party lack vision.
He said the NDC is doing all these things to distract Ghanaians from focusing on the lack of vision in their ticket, their gross incompetence in office, and the danger their ticket poses for Ghana.
“The NDC has strategically chosen to interpret these highly valued attributes and work ethic of NAPO as arrogance in order to distract us from focusing on the lack of vision in their ticket, their gross incompetence in office, and the danger their ticket poses for Ghana. Let’s not fall for it.” He said.
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) unanimously approved Minister of Energy and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency of the Ashanti Region, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate for the party ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Many Ghanaians especially the NDC have criticised Napo describing him as an arrogance and incompetence who can not make any impact in this year’s elections.
But Richard Ahiagbah believes “choosing NAPO as a running mate is a practical decision for the NPP. We have complete and unreserved confidence that his nomination will help the NPP win on 7th December and positively impact the goal to improve conditions for Ghanaians.”
He indicated that Napo is a compassionate leader, bold, assertive who together with Bawumia can lead the NPP to break the 8.
“NAPO has been a compassionate leader. He is bold, assertive, and driven, and the results of his work are evident in the lives of many young Ghanaians, their parents, and communities who have directly or indirectly benefited from the Free SHS policy, among others.” He added.
“The 2024 presidential election is a clear choice between former President John Mahama and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Let us focus Ghana’s attention on the two candidates and ignore the invitation to trivialize the discussion. It’s possible with Bawumia-NAPO.” The NPP Communication director emphasized.
