Okyeame Kofi Adu, the Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the United States, has responded fiercely to comments made by Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, for his recent comments comparing the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.

Okyeame Kofi Adu, condemned Dr. Prempeh’s comments as disrespectful and historically inaccurate. he said it is absolutely unacceptable to compare the legacy of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, a man who laid the foundation for our nation’s independence and progress, to President Akufo-Addo.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who is the running mate to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 general elections, has categorically stated that no president on Ghana has developed the country than President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He said not even the first president of the Republic of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah can be compared to Nana Addo in terms of development.

Napo made this assertion while speaking at his outdooring ceremony as the NPP running mate in Kumasi on last Tuesday, July 9, 2024, the Minister of Energy said Akufo-Addo is the only president who has protected Ghana and helped ensure development in the country.

This statement has been met with backlash as most Ghanaians of which Okyeame Kofi Adu is no exception.

Okyeame Kofi Adu, explained that, “Dr. Nkrumah’s vision for a united and prosperous Ghana was unparalleled, and his leadership laid the groundwork for the country’s growth and development. Dr. Nkrumah was a true patriot and a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the betterment of our nation. To compare him to anyone, especially President Akufo-Addo, is not only disrespectful but also historically inaccurate,” Adu emphasized.

He continued, “in this recent and clear day as Mr Opoku Prempeh’s arrogant attitudes are all over the media from education sector, energy sector, Parliament House, public domain and end in the Manhyia palace in disgracing the people’s of Ashanti, Ghana to the whole world.” He said.

The Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the United States, is of the view that the recent comment by Napo on Ghana’s first President, confirms recent allegations leveled against him of being arrogant.

He made mention of some comments the NPP running mate has made over the years that according to him is a testament of the allegations leveled against him .

“Under the Education Sector:

On 30/12/2017 this arrogant Education Minister told students who needed toilets to use polythene bags if they lack toilet facilities in their school under the Free Senior High Program.

And Napo is making a comparison that Ghanaian people should take him seriously? Okyeame asked.

“Under Energy Sector:

Napo with his arrogance when Ghanaians are calling for a timetable for power low schedule, he has the effrontery to tell Ghanaians to bring their own timetable and this failed Energy Minister did compared Dr Kwame Nkrumah to Mr Akuffo Addo and people’s think he need to be praise? Hon Okyeame exhale.”

The NDC Deputy Secretary also called on Dr. Prempeh to retract his comments and apologize for any offense caused.

“Napo should take it now that, he should not make such a mistake again as he did during his speech giving at his outdooring as Vice President of which he can’t handle the energy sector as sector Minister but comparing a Revered Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to Mr Akuffo Addo. Okyeame stressed.

“There’s nowhere in Ghana, Africa and in the World will people accept or bow down to Napo’s ill statement made about Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.” He said.

Okyeame Kofi Adu, therefore encouraged Ghanaians both home and abroad to reject the NPP and vote massively for the NDC come December 7th.

“In view of the above I am encouraging all Ghanaians home and abroad to totally reject NPP Napo and Bawumia and rather vote for a listening and humble leader who has shown that Ghanaians deserves better than the arrogance we seen in NPP government and such a leader is H.E John Dramani Mahama come December 7.” He said
