The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has stated that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will be held accountable for alleged corruption and mismanagement during his tenure in office.
He further disclosed that President John Dramani Mahama’s government is committed to intensifying accountability among government officials, ensuring that those responsible for financial mismanagement face the law.
“No matter where Ken Ofori-Atta is, he will have to account for how he managed the country. Even if he is sick, he will still come and answer to the good people of Ghana.” He said
According to him, all government officials under the Nana Addo government who are alleged to be involved in any form of corruption will be held accountable to Ghanaians. If found guilty, they will face the full consequences of the law.
“Not only Ken Ofori-Atta but all government officials who have wronged the country will be held accountable. If, after rendering an account, they are found innocent, then there will be no problem. However, every one of them will answer to the state.
He further assured Ghanaians that the crackdown on corruption would not be limited to officials of the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration but would also apply to any corrupt officials within the current NDC government.
“We will intensify accountability among government officials. This will not apply only to officials under the NPP government but also to any official under this NDC government who engages in corrupt activities—they will be brought to face the law.” He disclosed
