The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, joined the Mo Traditional Council in Kintampo to celebrate this year’s Annual Pedia/Yam Festival, held under the theme “advancing unity through culture.”

The event brought together several dignitaries, including Hon. Unas Owusu, Bono East Regional Chairman, Hon. Joseph Kwame Kumah, Member of Parliament for Kintampo North, Dr. Isaac Adeabsah, Chief Executive Officer of the Gratis Foundation, Hon. Prince Opoku Mensah, Bono East Political Coordinator, Hon. Isaac Donkor, Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Hon. Kwaku Adjei Mensah, MCE for Techiman,  and Hon. Phillip Oppong Amponsah, Deputy CEO of GIISDC.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi explained the need for peace and unity among the Mo people and assured the traditional leaders of government’s efforts to resolve the recent Gulumpe conflict.

He disclosed key development interventions being undertaken by the NDC and the Mahama-led government, including the establishment of two training colleges, two universities, the National Apprenticeship Program (NAP), and the construction of a modern 24-hour market to boost local trade and employment across the region.

For his part, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as “General Mosquito,” urged the people of Kintampo to uphold peace and togetherness as vital ingredients for community progress. He reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to fulfilling its manifesto pledges and recovering misappropriated state resources from the previous administration.

As part of his support to the Mo Traditional Council, Hon. Asiedu Nketiah donated 200 bags of cement and GH¢20,000 towards the construction of the new traditional palace, a gesture that was met with warm appreciation from the chiefs and people of the area.

The Annual Pedia/Yam Festival continues to serve as a platform for fostering unity, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting development among the Mo people of Kintampo.
