The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Asawasi Constituency over the weekend launched a youth wing called Progressive Members at Adukrom in Kumasi.
The Progressive Member’s primary objective is to mobilize support for the party’s 2024 flag bearer, their parliamentary candidate John Dramani Mahama and Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak respectively to win power in this year’s general election.
The members consist of individuals from the spectrum of all societies across the length and breadth of the Asawasi Constituency such as tipper truck drivers, okada riders, traders, students, artisans, refrigerator repairs, ghetto boys and girls among other people.
Speaking to pressmen the founder of the Progressive Members of Asawasi NDC Constituency Mr. Issahaku Adams hinted the Progressive Members Wing is poised to enhance the party’s base which is the grassroots support.
Mr. Adams further disclosed that the newly launched Progressive Members have contracted a team of independent journalists to conduct a vivid survey ahead of the December 7, 2024 polls to establish who is likely to win both presidential and parliamentary elections.
He added he will not hesitate disclosing the figures to the public as soon as his office receives the report on November 10.
According to Adams the illegal mining issues cannot be left out as far as this year’s general elections is concerned, “let’s blame Akuffo Addo for his incompetence to deal with the illegal mining (Galamsey) issues in Ghana he is killing us gradually as he is supervising mining licenses issuance” Mr. Adams hinted.
The founder of Progressive Members Adams Issahaku further urged all members to eschew their differences and rally behind the leadership to ensure organizational tactics that will verily win power in upcoming December 7 polls.
On his part the incumbent member of parliament for Asawasi Constituency who is vying for re-election Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak also appealed to the youth to put aside all bitterness and focus on the party’s vision for the youth in the country.
Mr. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak entreated the party supporters particularly members of the newly launched Progressive Members not move from their respective polling station in the name of helping others until they are told to do so by the party leadership otherwise their opponents will capitalize on their absence to rig the elections, and further charged them to leave all such operations to the party elections committee.
Hon. Muntaka therefore affirmed support of the party’s leadership for the activities of Progressive Members in Asawasi Constituency and also charge them to work hard to ensure brighter and absolute victory of the party in upcoming December 7 polls.
Hon Muntaka entreated the party members to avoid discrimination among party members saying one can be joining the party today and work hard to ensure party’s victory whereas those of old will play a lackadaisical attitude that affects the party chances of winning power.
Hon Muntaka Mubarak presented 30 pieces of the party’s T Shirts to the leadership of the newly launched Progressive Members of Asawasi Constituency.
