Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II: Ideal representative for Bono East on the Council of State

The Koasehene and Manwerehene of the Techiman Traditional Council, Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II, known privately as Ing. Samuel Opoku, has been recognized as the ideal member of the Council of State to represent the Bono East Region.

With a distinguished career as an Engineer spanning over 20 years at P&W Ghanem Ltd as the Project Coordinator for the company and the in charge of the southern sector, Ing. Samuel Opoku brings a diverse range of skills and expertise in problem-solving, technical expertise, innovation and creativity, analytical and critical thinking, project management, leadership and teamwork, among many others.

Traditional leaders, opinion leaders, and key stakeholders in the region believe that Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II’s visionary leadership, commitment to progress, and deep-rooted service to his people make him the ideal candidate to serve in this capacity.

This recognition comes as a result of his unwavering dedication to the development of Bono East and Ghana as a whole as over the years, he has played a pivotal role in fostering development, unity, and economic growth within Bono East, particularly in the areas of education, agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

A Visionary Leader in Sports Development

Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II, has played a monumental role in nurturing and shaping Ghanaian sports talents, particularly in football. Through his efforts, he has:

  • Produced exceptional football talents who have proudly represented Ghana at both national and international levels.
  • Mentored over 50 professional footballers currently playing in leagues across the globe.
  • Elevated female football to remarkable heights, notably through his leadership in Ampem Darkoa Ladies FC and Fosu Royal Ladies FC, both competing at the highest level in the Women’s Premier League – Northern Zone, with Ampem Darkoa Ladies being the pride of Bono East so far as football in the region is concerned.
  • Under his leadership, Techiman Ampem Darkoa Ladies is the second most successful women’s football club in Ghana, having won the Ghana Women’s Premier League three times and the Ghana Women’s Super-Cup in the 2017 football season. The team was also the second Ghanaian team to represent the country in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
  • Ing. Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour is also the owner and financier of Aduana Akwamu Ladies, a Division 1 Women League side.

A Guardian of Hope for the Less Privileged

Beyond sports, Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II, has demonstrated extraordinary compassion and commitment to the well-being of young girls. Presently, he is taking care of over 250 girls, providing them with

  • Food, healthcare, and shelter
  • Access to quality education
  • A structured pathway to a secure and promising future.

A Civic Leader

As the Project Coordinator for P&W Ghanem Ltd and the in charge of the southern sector, Nana Opoku Fosu Gyeabour II, has contributed significantly to the development of Techiman, Bono East region and Ghana at large.

Some of his notable contributions include;

  • The voluntary tarring of the Asueyi Junction to Grotto Road during the construction of the Techiman to Wenchi Road.
  • The tarring of a park adjacent to where offices were built during the same road construction to be used as a lorry park for Aworowa Township.
  • The handover of office buildings to the Aworowa community, which are now used as a police station.
  • The construction of a culvert and restoration of the road when contractors working on the Tano Box Culvert on the Techiman – Sunyani road abandoned the project during the rainy season.
  • Leaving office buildings for the people of Nkoranza during the construction of the Nkoranza-Ejura Road.
  • Leaving office buildings for the Nkwabeng community on the Nkwabeng-Bredi Road.
  • The successful construction of the Techiman to Hamile Road under his management and supervision.

This selfless service underscores his passion for human development, social impact, and nation-building. Many believe his representation at the Council of State will further amplify the concerns and aspirations of the people of Bono East, ensuring equitable development and progress.
