Ghanaian Gospel artist, Piesie Esther, who has been in the music industry for over 20 years, has debunked claims that musician and sound engineer Nacee wrote her current hit song, titled ‘Way3 Me Yie.’
Piesie Esther has achieved a great feat with ‘Way3 Me Yie,’ as it led her to win two awards at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. She won the Gospel Song of the Year with ‘Way3 Me Yie’ and the Gospel Artiste of the Year award.
She was expected to win the Artiste of the Year award, all thanks to the success of her song ‘Way3 Me Yie,’ but unfortunately, Black Sherif won the ultimate prize.
In an interview, Nacee claimed credit for ‘Way3 Me Yie,’ stating that he worked on the entire song, from A to Z, arranging and doing everything.
Nacee’s statement has sparked a conversation about who the main writer is, as he is claiming all the credit.
In response to this, Piesie Esther clarified on Onua TV’s Maakye program that she indeed worked with Nacee, as he is a sound engineer, but she wrote the song herself.
She added that Nacee is very talented, and all her songs recorded at his studio have achieved great success.
The Gospel Artiste of the Year explained that Nacee helped her arrange the song and provided guidance on some technical aspects, including the choice of words and more. However, Nacee didn’t write ‘Way3 Me Yie.’
“I don’t think Nacee said he wrote the song. Sometimes you guys twist words. What he meant was that he assisted me with some stuff, such as arrangement and other things because he’s a sound engineer and understands some things more than me. Nacee is talented, and anyone who records at his place will testify to that,” Piesie clarified.
