17-year old Barcelona young talent, Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana has chosen Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, as his football idol while growing up.

Lamine Yamal, who is currently the Emerging Player of the Globe Soccer Awards and La Liga Player of the Month of September, says although Argentine international, Lionel Andrés Messi, has been his best player while growing up but he looked up to Neymar Jnr, making the 32-year old Brazilian his football idol.

Neymar da Silva Santos, probably enjoyed the best of his football career donning the colors of FC Barcelona. The Brazilian, joined the Catalan giants on 27th May, 2013 with a transfer fee of  €57.1 million, which after investigations from the prosecutor’s office in Madrid in January 2024, came out that the transfer actually coast Barcelona €86.2 million.

Despite the transfer saga, Neymar proved to be one of the most entertaining players ever to wear the shirts of Barca, entertaining their teeming supporters with his dazzling skills, playing a total of 186 games  contributing to 139 goals, providing 34 assists and scoring  105 goals. while helping the team to lift 8 major trophies in the space of 4 seasons.

Lamine Yamal, who is seen as the next ”Messiah” at Barcelona, is on a fine form this season, contributing to ten (10) goals involvement in 10 La Liga matches, scoring four (4) goals and providing six (6) assists which is the same goals involvement he contributed during the 2023-2024 season where he scored five (5) goals and five (5) assists in thirty-seven (37) La Liga League matches.

In an interview with La Liga TV, the La Liga Player of the Month of September, said he sees Messi to be best player he has ever watched played in the game of football but his idol growing up is Neymar.

“My idol as a child was Neymar, although Messi was the best, the way Ney played and the way he was…I loved it.” He told La Liga TV.
