French football superstar Kylian Mbappé Lottin, has revealed that he struggled to find space on the pitch during his first months as a player for Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old forward admitted that his early time at Real Madrid was challenging, as he had difficulty finding his rhythm during matches and wasn’t sure which side to operate from.

Mbappé, known for his explosive pace and incredible footballing IQ, acknowledged that his mindset had to shift in order to fully embrace his role at one of the world’s biggest clubs.

“I was thinking too much about how to do things. Whether to go into space, whether to go to Vini’s area of the pitch, to Rodrygo’s area.”

“When you overthink, you don’t focus on your game.” He said.

The French forward joined Real Madrid on June 3, 2024, as a free agent, after years of speculation about a potential move to the Spanish giants.

Mbappe struggled in front of goals during his early days as a Madridista, missing two penalties in the space of a week in December.

In an interview with the media, Kylian Mbappé Lottin, disclosed that his struggles in front of goal during that period was phycological as he was eager to prove himself as an integral part of the team.

He however explained that, the criticism he received when he hit the rock bottom has helped him  to turn things around for the best, both for Real Madrid and his career.

“A player always wants more, for me and for the team, so when you don’t do that, it’s normal it impacts you. I knew this could happen and in the end, it was good because I changed my mentality and I was like, I cannot play any worse. Things can only get better’.

“It was more a mental thing. I thought, ‘now I have to do more’, quite simply. I thought I was fine physically and with the team but I needed to do more, I knew that. It was a moment when I said, ‘Come on, this is the time to change. You have not come to Madrid to play badly’. He said

He continue’ “It wasn’t shyness but you have to come to Real Madrid with humility, because it’s a team that has won everything and you can’t come with demands, ordering, ‘Pass me the ball’. No. Here you come with the utmost respect… And to work.”
