The CEO of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has broken his silence on a report regarding the sale of Aboso Glass Factory in the Prestea Huni Valley municipality of the Western Region for scrap dealers.

He said the residents should not politicize the issue.

The CEO urged the leaders to use proper channels to address their concerns.

“We are demolishing some buildings, the Contractor is a foreign company. We directed that when they are doing the cleaning, they should not take anything out of the building because the consulting Architect has to inspect everything that is taking out. We don’t want politics in this, they should put their concerns on a paper.” Maxwell Kofi Jumah said.

After the news of alleged sale of the Aboso Glass Factory to a new investor broke in, the Chief and people of Aboso vowed to resist any attempt to sell the factory established in 1966 by the former president, Dr.Kwame Nkrumah.

According to the residents, it is important for the government to renovate the Factory to continue supplying bottles for the beverage industry in order to reduce importation of glass and bottles than to sell to an investor.

“Initially we thought they were cutting the old metals which is not useful, but unfortunately, we found out that oil has been drained from the transformer and some electrical cables have been taken away. This was not the agreement.” A resident, Abdulai Iddrisu told TV3 news.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Bogoso also said the authorities leading the sale of the Factory need to sit down with the Traditional rulers for appropriate measures to be taken.

“The Traditional stool is losing. We want the authorities involved in this business to come together and sit down with us to address the matter amicably. We are also calling on Maxwell Kofi Jumah to reconsider his decision to sell the Aboso Glass Factory for scraps.” He said.
