Former president John Dramani Mahama has revealed the reason president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is fighting against handing over to him in the 2024 elections.
President Akufo-Addo on several occasions said he can not hand over power to someone he defeated.
“Before the general election, I will come with the man who is going to be my successor. Wa Naa, you know that the man I removed from the seat, I cannot have him as my successor and as a traditional ruler, you understand what I am saying.“ Nana Addo said this when he addressed the chiefs and people of Wa.
But the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama explained that Nana Addo is fighting against handing over to him because he (Mahama) will not protect his legacy of mismanagement and corruption.
Adding that he will subject Ghanaians into hardship and poverty like the Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia government.
“Do you know why President Akufo-Addo is fighting against handing over to me? John Mahama will not protect his legacy of mismanagement, corruption, state capture, and inflicting hardship and poverty on Ghanaians.” Mr. Mahama wrote on his X.
The former president assured the people of Volta Region that his next administration will prioritise the upgrading of road infrastructure, including the Ho to Aflao and the eastern corridor road, build a new and modern market in Aflao, and explore the production of cassava, rice, cocoa, oil palm, and ginger, among others, in the region.
“On my recent campaign tour of the Volta Region, I assured the chiefs and people of my determination to develop aggressively and strategically an economic corridor linking the Volta and Oti Regions. Among other things, we will prioritise the upgrading of road infrastructure, including the Ho to Aflao and the eastern corridor road, build a new and modern market in Aflao, and explore the production of cassava, rice, cocoa, oil palm, and ginger, among others, in the region.” He added.
