Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin latest film, “A Country Called Ghana,” has received another nomination.

The movie was nominated in the 2024 Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF).

The movie gained the ‘Black Star Movie of the Year’ category.

The 9th edition of the Black Star International Film Festival will take place from September 15th-21st, 2024.

The organizers in a short message recognized the amazing work of “A Country Called Ghana,” and wished them well.

“You’ve received yet another selection on FilmFreeway! We’re so happy for you and all your success. Keep up the amazing work!” They said.

The Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF) is an annual film festival that takes place in Accra, Ghana. The festival aims to promote and celebrate the works of filmmakers from Africa and the diaspora, as well as to provide a platform for African films to be showcased on an international stage.

BSIFF was founded with the aim of creating a space for African cinema to be celebrated and recognised whilst elevating Black/African stories.

The movie “A Country Called Ghana,” which was directed by Frank Fiifi Gharbin and executively produced by LilWin featured famous actors and actresses such as Ramsey Nouah, Charles Awurum, Victor Osuagwu (known as Awilo Sharp Sharp), Paa George, and Sweet Mimi.

“A Country Called Ghana,” earlier received a prestigious nomination for the 2024 Nollywood Film Festival in Germany which is scheduled to take place at GOETHE University, Purple Cinema, Mertonstr 26-28, in Frankfurt AM Main, Germany on August 3rd.

It has also earned nominations in Germany, New Zealand, IMO Internationa.

Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin in an interview said he wants to use the movie to promote Ghana’s rich culture.

The movie faced a lot of criticism from the entertainment industry in Ghana for featuring Nigerian actors instead of Ghanaians.

While others were praising Lilwin for the content of the movie, others also bashed him.
