Former Energy Minister and Flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Boakye Agyarko, has urged the party’s leadership to renew faith and optimism in the party and that of Ghanaians before considering breaking the eight.
In an interview with Rev. Nana Amakye Sei, Mr. Agyarko revealed that beating John Mahama must not be the bigger objective of the NPP but how to restore the economy after winning the 2024 polls must be their main focus.
“It is not beating John Mahama, as for John Mahama, anyone can beat him but it’s about who can fix the economy, if you beat John. Mahama and fail to fix the country, then what is the benefit of it”. He said
According to him, he has the utmost respect for John Dramani Mahama but believes anyone from the NPP can easily beat him in the election therefore the delegates must vote for someone who can fix the country after beating the NDC in the upcoming Presidential elections.
“I’m not downplaying John Mahama, I can’t even do that but the higher objective must be the progress of the country and that of our party members”
According to him, should he be given the mandate to lead the party in the 2024 polls, he can revive the hopes of supporters and sympathies of the New Patriotic Party and Ghanaians at large to energize the party into victory hence the name of his campaign “restore hope”.
Mr. Boagye Agyarko believes this is the time the party must show respect to the discerning views of others in order to break the 8.
