The owner of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, simply known as Asante Kotoko, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has charges the Board and the supporters to put aside their self interest and individual differences and work together to promote the club.
According to the Asante Monarch, the only way to resurrect the spirit of Porcupine Warriors is to prioritize the institution before anything else.
“If we don’t make Kotoko our first priority than trying to hype ourselves in the name of Kotoko, it won’t work. If we don’t see it as the institution we should serve and take advantage of the club to promote ourselves, it won’t work. If supporters leave Kotoko behind and throw their support for a particular manager, it will not help.” The Asantehene said this on Friday, 21 July, 2023 during a club meeting at Manhyia palace.
The meeting, attended by supporters and former players, aimed to address the club’s situation following the conclusion of the Dr Kwame Kyei-led board’s three-year mandate.
At the gathering, various pressing issues were discussed, and crucial information was revealed, including the club’s staggering debt, which stands at over GH¢3 million.
Asantehene bemoaned over the current state of the 88 – year – old football club.
